The tin fiasco
Hello dear art lovers just a quick post today to explain my progress or lack of same. I have several boxes of tins, non Altoids, that I have attempted to spray paint in order to cover up the inherent decorations so that I can create my own. It has not worked out so well. I have successfully painted approximately 20 or so tins, but the spray paint cracks off, sigh!
As you can see here. I am thinking of adding a clear coat to see if that stops it, but have not gotten around to it yet. Any suggestions on how to save these tins are welcome!
Hopefully, progress soon!
Emery cloth? Fine sand paper? Sand blasting?
Anything to disrupt/rough the surface so the paint can adhere.
Add steel wool to the list
And putting them in a tumbler with sand.
I thought about sanding them down with steel wool and repainting them, but I think that would be a bit toxic and I am writing these tins off as a loss and moving on.
